Blended Learning Courses At Glenealy IT Centre

Students now have the opportunity to study via blended learning courses at Glenealy IT Centre. A number of ICT courses and our newly developed short courses in Biodiversity and Film Production are being delivered via blended learning. Blended courses essentially combines in-class learning with online learning in various forms using digital technology.

Physical attendance

Students will spend some time in the physical classroom for face-to -face training and demonstrations. In addition, some courses will also involve field and location trips. However, physical attendance will be restricted to those times when face-to-face tutor instruction is required and will be in accordance with Covid 19 guidelines. Class sizes will be small.

Online learning

No prior knowledge of blended learning or digital media is required. Some courses are a blend of in-class learning combined with pre-recorded online tutorials. These online tutorials are delivered via digital platforms. Some courses will also involve collaborative classes and workshops via Zoom meetings. 

All blended learning students will have access to online tutor support. In addition, where digital submissions and the use of digital platforms are required, students will be provided with training and support on the setup and use of all relevant digital technologies.

This practical six week part-time course is designed for beginners with little or no experience in filmmaking, digital media or blended learning. The course will provide hands on training in professional filmmaking and cover the technical aspects of film production. Students will direct and produce a film on location, edit it and distribute it to social media platforms.

Instruction will be given on all relevant digital media used on this course. Successful students will be awarded the QQI Component Certificate in Digital Media 3N0552.

This part-time 12 week course explores the natural environment as a sustainable resource, with particular reference to the Wicklow area. Students will also study horticultural science.

Successful students will be awarded two minor QQI awards- Level 5 Biodiversity and the Natural Environment and Level 4 Horticultural Science.

Microsoft Office Specialist is the only official Microsoft recognised certification programme for Microsoft Office’s suite of applications, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.

The ICDL (International Computer Driving Licence) qualification is widely recognised and respected by Irish employers. ICDL has a wide range of ICT modules which provides the learner with the opportunity to upskill and reskill in essential IT skills. The participant  will become more confident and competent with using computers and digital technology in all aspects of their personal and professional life.

Adobe Photoshop’s powerful image editing software is used by photographers and designers worldwide. With Adobe Certified Associate certification (ACA), students will gain the skills to create beautiful images and graphics. 

Successful students will receive the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) in Visual Design using Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 certification.

On this Web Design course you will learn how to plan, design, develop and publish your website. With Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2019 you can quickly build beautiful and responsive websites. You do not need to know any code but if you wish to use code Dreamweaver has a built in code editor which automatically displays the output visually. It has a streamlined and easy to use interface.

Successful students will receive the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) in Web Authoring using Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2019 certification.
